The Construction Materials Industry Composite Index increased after 4 months in July, as well as an increase in domestic sales as well as exports.

Turkey Building Material Producers Association (MSAD Turkey) in July 2019 was announced by the results Construction Materials Industry Composite Index, published regularly every month.

Accordingly, activities in the construction materials industry recovered in July. Domestic sales increased after 4 months, while the increase in exports accelerated. Domestic sales and exports increased together after a long time. Thus, a balanced recovery was experienced in the activities.

Production increased for the first time after 4 months. Domestic sales, exports, production and turnover increased together after a long time. Turnover rose significantly in July due to the increase in domestic and foreign sales. Activities in the construction materials industry recovered balancedly after long-term fluctuations and weaknesses. The recovery also supported expectations for activities in the coming months.

TRUST INDEX INCREASED AFTER A LONG TIME

Located in Building Materials Industry Confidence Index increased confidence in Turkey's economy for the first time after a long period of time. The decline in confidence in the construction industry and building materials industry has stopped. The confidence level fell by just 0.1 points in July compared to the previous month.

While the decline in confidence level almost stopped, the recovery in activities supported the confidence. Turkey returned to the bottom level of confidence regarding the economy. Confidence in domestic markets ended the rapid decline in July.

Confidence in the export markets increased significantly in July. The Confidence Index was positively affected this time with the postponement of the foreign political and geopolitical risks that previously had negative effects. Uncertainties in the economy also decreased. The recovery in the activities also contributed to the confidence.

OPTIMIZATION AFTER LONG-TERM EXPECTATIONS

The Construction Materials Industry Expectations Index also declined slightly in July. Expectations also weakened considerably. Especially after a very long time expectations regarding Turkey's economy showed improvement in July.

The recovery in the activities also supported the expectations. Expectation Index decreased by 0.2 points in July compared to the previous month. Expectations for the construction materials industry stagnated in July. Domestic orders for the next three months saw a limited decline. Export orders for these months showed an accelerating increase in July.

Production expectations for the next three months have also increased. The sector continues its optimism especially in production based on export orders. Political and foreign political risks, which negatively impacted expectations, were relatively reduced. In the rest of the year, it was seen that the expectations to be taken mostly by the economy and the construction sector will be guided and the current expectations reflect a cautious optimism in this regard.

The decrease in political, foreign political and geopolitical risks and the recovery in activities supported the increase in the Construction Materials Industry Composite Index. It was assessed that the next improvement will depend more on the steps to be taken in the economy and construction-housing sector.
