The Construction Materials Industry Composite Index decreased by 3.62 points to 80.19 points in December compared to the previous month. Demand and financing problems experienced in the construction sector continued to affect the construction materials industry.
Activities in the construction materials industry continued to shrink in December due to the sharp contraction in domestic demand. Thus, the activities, which decreased significantly in the second half of the year, closed 2018 with a decrease of 18.1 points compared to the previous year. The Activity Index decreased by 5.1 points in December compared to the previous month. Thus, one of the hardest monthly contraction has been experienced since 2013.
The construction sector is in a seasonally stable period, while the construction materials industry is expected to remain troubled for the next few months.
